Ingredients:
- Half cup shortening
- One and half cups white sugar
- Two eggs
- Two tablespoons cocoa
- Four tablespoons red food coloring
- One teaspoon salt
- One teaspoon vanilla extract
- One cup buttermilk
- Two and half cups sifted all-purpose flour
- One and half teaspoons baking soda
- One tablespoon distilled white vinegar
- Five tablespoons all-purpose flour
- One cup milk
- One cup white sugar
- One cup butter, room temperature
- One teaspoon vanilla extract
Preparation Procedure:
Step No: - 01
Pre-heat oven to 350-352 degrees F (175-176 degrees C).
Grease two 9-inch smoothed pans.
Step No: - 02
Beat shortening and one and half cups sugar until very light
and fluffy. Add eggs and beated well.
Step No: - 03
Prep. a paste of cocoa and red food coloring; add to creamed
mixture. Mix salt, one teaspoon vanilla, and buttermilk together. Add the flour
to the batter, discontinuous with the buttermilk mixture, mixing just till
incorporated. Mix soda and vinegar and softly fold into cake batter. Don't beat
or stirring the batter after this point.
Step No: - 04
Transfer batter into prepared pans. Bake in pre-heated oven till
a tester inserted into the cake comes out clean, about 30-32 minutes. Cool
cakes entirely on wire rack.
Step No: - 05
To Make Icing, cook five tablespoons flour and milk over low
heat till thick, stirring continuously. Let cool entirely! While mixture is
cooling, beat 1 cup sugar, butter, and one teaspoon vanilla till light and
fluffy. Add cooled flour mixture and beat till frosting is a good spreading steadiness.
Frost cake layers when wholly cool.
